Life in a community?
People with disabilities should be given the opportunity to live in local communities as equal citizens, with the support they need to participate in everyday life. This means living in their own homes independently or with their families, going to school, to work, participating in community activities.
To ensure that people with disabilities have the same choice, control and freedom as other citizens, the practical help and support provided to them should be based on their own choices and aspirations.
